Their Story
Through its portfolio companies, Pivot Technological Solutions (Pivotts) designs, sells, integrates and supports IT solutions – including hardware, maintenance and support – engaging clients in all aspects of their IT lifecycle management.
How did you deploy software before using Octopus?
Using TFS build scripts e.g. web deploy, robocopy, SQL dacpac. Main problem was that building and automated test concerns were getting mixed up with deployment and release management concerns.
How has using Octopus improved the way you deploy software?
We are now quite close to Continuous Delivery. Octopus made the deployments very light weight, reliable, reproducible. So as a development team it’s much easier for us to isolate code on a “story by story basis”, without increasing our workload or the complexity of release management.
What are the main benefits for using Octopus in your organization?
More deployments, more agile to the customer’s needs, higher quality expectations. No need for software developers to manage the releases anymore, so there’s much greater visibility to the whole business of how often we are releasing and what features and bug fixes are being provided.
Shout out to @OctopusDeploy for making their software so easy to work with. Just upgraded a 2 year out of date instance and migrated it to a new server and it worked with no effort beyond what their documentation said to do.

We've been overhauling our internal infrastructure and back-end systems over the past month, including a move back to full @OctopusDeploy deployments; rediscovering how nice it is to have a platform-agnostic orchestrator that can deploy practically anything, anywhere ❤

Tools like @OctopusDeploy can be great in enabling culture change, we've been able to scale and improve our configuration story since we started using it.
