How did you deploy software before using Octopus?

I introduced Volpara to Octopus Deploy when I started, prior to this deployment was completely manual from a binary push to azure (or via Visual Studio) combined with manual configuration. The deployment dropped from a full 8hrs to approx. 20mins end to end.

How has using Octopus improved the way you deploy software?

I had used Octopus Deploy with a previous company so when I started this current job and was tasked with speeding up the 2 day single environment build cycle it was a no brainer. A lot of water under the bridge product wise since then but a deployment process typically takes around 20mins including a build out of VSTS these days so it is one of the easiest wins we have had.

Octopus has improved the way we deploy software in five ways: 1) All in one distribution and deployment to cloud datacentres 2) Version control of release binaries 3) Dashboard overview of releases rollout status 4) Seamless integration with the Azure resources we employ 5) SSO with Azure Identities certainly makes our ISO27001 compliance simpler.

What are the main benefits for using Octopus in your organization?

Similar to above really, ease of use, simplicity of onboarding and overview of new customers (tenants), integration with VSTS.

Shout out to @OctopusDeploy for making their software so easy to work with. Just upgraded a 2 year out of date instance and migrated it to a new server and it worked with no effort beyond what their documentation said to do.

We've been overhauling our internal infrastructure and back-end systems over the past month, including a move back to full @OctopusDeploy deployments; rediscovering how nice it is to have a platform-agnostic orchestrator that can deploy practically anything, anywhere ❤

Tools like @OctopusDeploy can be great in enabling culture change, we've been able to scale and improve our configuration story since we started using it.
