How did you get into your current job/field?
In 2016 we saw something really exciting happening around containers and Kubernetes, and we felt like delivering software could be done in a dramatically better way. You have all these teams across the globe reinventing the same wheel - what if we could make something that worked for all of them?
I'm a software engineer in my background, but have spent more time in marketing and the business side so I felt like I could understand both sides of the equation and offer something unique. Now, here we are in 2025, leading and maintaining Argo – the most de facto way to deploy to Kubernetes – powering our GitOps software delivery platform and our Argo services.
What's a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I'm a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, the famous Scottish king.
What is your favorite project you've worked on at Octopus Deploy so far?
One of the most impactful on the industry has been creating Open GitOps and the GitOps Principles which have near-universal adoption from the cloud-native industry. We had hundreds of contributors to build those best practices and wide adoption!
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
I love to rock climb, mountain bike, and snowboard – even better, I can do these things with my kids.
What excites you most about working at Octopus Deploy?
At Octopus Deploy we get to have a huge impact on the world. We enable engineering and operations teams in healthcare, finance, retail, gaming, and every other industry to be much more productive and successful. Every time we make their lives easier, we enable them to dramatically improve the world.
If you could eat one meal for the rest of forever - what would it be?
Lets go BBQ! I love to smoke meat and even make my own bacon and pastrami!
Is there anything else you'd love to share with us!?
Even if you're not an Octopus Deploy user directly, you use our software every day through the websites, services, and stores you access and use. Thanks for partnering with us to build the future!

I love all things systems, so anywhere I can learn how systems work and how I can use them to make everyone’s jobs a little bit easier makes me happy.

One of my first jobs out of college was an Office Manager. I enjoyed helping people in house that it naturally transitioned into a HR role.
