Octopus 101: Platform Hub for practitioners

Most practitioners don't configure Platform Hub, they work inside it, and that's the perspective this session takes. We'll walk through what it's actually like to deploy against policies and process templates someone else has already set up: what happens when a guided failure kicks in because a policy caught something, what a process template does and doesn't let you customize, and how to tell the difference between a governance block and an actual bug when your deployment doesn't go through. If you've ever been confused about why a deployment behaved differently than you expected, or wondered what's actually enforced behind the scenes, this session is built to answer that.

He leads community engagement, creates educational content, and appears regularly on Octopus streams and webinars. Before Octopus, John spent years in developer relations at Microsoft and Telerik/Progress, speaking at industry events and building programs for web and .NET developers. He contributes to Octopus open source, including the Octopus CLI, the Terraform provider for Octopus, and several GitHub Actions that connect build pipelines to deployment workflows. John is based in Robina, Australia, and has been active in the developer community for over two decades.
