Introducing Octopus Approvals

We’re introducing Octopus Approvals, a built-in change approval system.

If you need to control who can approve a deployment, or require multiple people to sign off before a deployment proceeds, you can now configure approval rules with Octopus Approvals.

Previously, the closest option was a Manual Intervention step, which pauses a deployment at a specific point in the process and waits for someone to take action. It only supports one approver, doesn’t require approval or rejection notes, and can be skipped depending on how the deployment process is configured.

Octopus Approvals gives you a built-in way to require one or more people to approve a deployment before it starts. Approval rules live outside the deployment process, so they can't be skipped the way a Manual Intervention step can. Define the rules at the space level and apply them across your projects and environments, so the right people can review and approve changes before they happen.
