Octopus MCP Server Now Available, Enabling Powerful, Secure AI Workflows
The Octopus MCP Server lets the AI assistants that customers use interact directly with Octopus, helping them explore, analyze, and diagnose problems in their Octopus instance.
BRISBANE, Australia, October 8, 2025 – Octopus Deploy (Octopus), the industry standard for Continuous Delivery (CD), has released the Octopus MCP Server, which can work alongside source control, CI, and cloud MCP tooling, enabling agentic workflows across customers’ DevOps ecosystems. All interactions are secure and auditable by default to maintain organizational compliance and governance standards.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets the AI assistants that customers use connect to the systems and services they own in a standardized way. Octopus is bringing this technology to its industry-leading Continuous Delivery tool. Built on Anthropic’s open standard for connecting AI assistants to external data sources and tools, the Octopus MCP Server enables AI assistants, like Claude and ChatGPT, to interact directly with a customer’s Octopus Deploy infrastructure.
"The Octopus MCP Server provides your AI assistant with powerful tools that let it explore deployments and configuration, and diagnose problems in your Octopus instance, transforming it into your ultimate DevOps wingmate," Colin Bowern, SVP of Product, Octopus Deploy.
Octopus Deploy also recently released its Octopus AI Assistant. The Octopus MCP server provides capabilities similar to the Octopus AI Assistant but with further benefits. This includes that customers can use it with their AI client and model of choice. It can also work alongside other MCP servers to accomplish more complex orchestrations across Octopus and other essential software services.
"With the Octopus MCP Server, our customers can stay in their AI assistant of choice, whether that’s Claude, Copilot, or another tool, and seamlessly connect with Octopus alongside their other MCP servers. They can chain services together, like pulling information from GitHub and Octopus in the same conversation, without having to switch between windows. It’s a faster way to get answers and get work done," Colin Bowern, SVP of Product, Octopus Deploy.
The Octopus MCP Server provides tools designed to solve key use-cases in change management, troubleshooting, audit and compliance, and standardization. For example, it lets customers quickly find what they currently have running in production, or help diagnose why a recent deployment has failed. Combined with the recently shipped Kubernetes Live Object Status, this can deliver live production insights directly to a customer’s AI client or agent. That, combined with a customer’s observability tool’s MCP server, helps break down DevOps silos and provides end-to-end live insight into the health of their most recent deployment.
The locally installed MCP Server is the first step for Octopus towards a remote MCP Server embedded within Octopus Server itself. Customers interested in a remote MCP can register their interest on the Octopus Deploy Roadmap.
