A typical week might include
- Clarifying goals, priorities, and how your team’s work ties into Octopus’ strategy.
- Coaching engineers of all levels, helping them grow their careers and unlock their full potential.
- Supporting a team that values autonomy and thrives in a high-trust remote environment.
- Guiding trade-offs and strategic decisions as part of a B2B SaaS platform that’s still scaling.
- Collaborating with other leaders in engineering, product, and design to influence and uplift practices across Octopus.
- Managing and optimising the Cloud Platform: from cost efficiency and performance to reliability and vendor relationships.
What we’re looking for
- A leader who balances delivery accountability with people growth, ensuring teams ship reliably, make pragmatic trade-offs, and deliver impact.
- Confidence leading sizeable teams in a similar context to ours (B2B SaaS scale-up).
- Skilled at managing in a remote-first setting, with empathy for distributed work.
- Strong technical grounding in software engineering, with the depth to coach effectively.
- A people-first leader who creates a culture of belonging, inclusion, and fairness.
- Able to spot dysfunction early and address it quickly to build sustainable, high-performing teams.
- Confident leading through large organisational change while keeping people engaged.
