You'll be joining our dynamic marketing team at Octopus Deploy, where we're passionate about helping development teams deploy software with confidence. Our marketing team works collaboratively across content, demand generation, and digital channels to connect with developers and DevOps professionals worldwide. You'll work alongside experienced marketers, content creators, and subject matter experts who are committed to sharing knowledge and supporting your professional development.
We are looking for an entry-level Junior Marketing Designer. The candidate should be ready to develop their existing skills by working with senior creative staff on a range of ambitious and innovative projects. An understanding of illustration, typography, and layout will be needed to help the team produce the best work possible. Responsible for helping create collateral, including blog and social images, flyers, stickers, and much more, with the ability to create custom vector illustrations.
To help our teams work together effectively, this remote position requires you to be located in Australia or New Zealand.
What you'll do:
- Reading the provided content or design brief, researching the topic to understand, and going through a process of creative ideation to create vector illustrations of the content provided.
- Layout of flyers based on templates, but with the ability to think outside the box, extending the design within the brand to suit the content provided.
- Illustrating the Octopus character in fun and inventive ways for swag.
- Elevating the design of slide decks to enterprise level by not only using the slide deck template but further adding your designer's flair to the content. Using brand elements, nicely designed tables, as well as static data visualisations, etc.
- Maintaining our company resource library and making announcements to let employees know it has been updated.
Your background:
- Approximately 1 year of professional working knowledge of the following tools: Illustrator, Canva, InDesign, Google Slides.
- Comfortable being adaptable, flexible, willing to listen to feedback, and using feedback to improve.
- Experience in drawing vector illustrations.
- Communicating with senior team members to receive feedback.
- Liaising effectively with stakeholders.
- Supporting the team throughout the execution of campaigns and projects.
- The ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong organisational skills.

The compensation for this role is:
Level 1:
Maturing- $75,000 AUD/NZD + super & stock options
Performing- $85,000 AUD/NZD + super & stock options
Benefits include a minimum of 25 days annual leave, up to 10 days of paid sick and carers leave, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave with flexible return options, and stock options. Learn more.
Interview Process

🧑💻Hiring manager chat [45–60 min]
Hiring manager chat: Designated time to chat with the hiring manager. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other. You should expect the hiring manager to ask questions about your professional background and goals. We welcome any questions you may have for us!
🎉Panel interview [60–90 min]
Final round chat: In this final round call, you meet cross-functional team members. You can expect a mix of leaders and individual contributors to join the chat. By the end of this call, you should have a great idea of what it’s like to work at Octopus. We should also have a great idea of what it would be like to have you on the team! We’ll ask any final questions and encourage you to do the same.
